About Bergfeld Historic Preservation
At Bergfeld Historic Preservation, we're dedicated to safeguarding the architectural treasures that define our community. Our mission is to restore and rejuvenate historic buildings—be they charming homes or iconic storefronts—ensuring they continue to inspire for generations.
Navigating the journey of historic preservation can seem daunting, but that's where we come in. From obtaining official historic designations to understanding tax credit opportunities, our team offers comprehensive support at every step. Whether you're aiming to breathe new life into a vintage residence or a cherished commercial space, we provide in-depth research, tailored advice, and hands-on project management to achieve authentic and impactful restorations.
Our commitment to detail and authenticity means we collaborate closely with property owners, architects, and local authorities to uphold the highest preservation standards. By blending contemporary craftsmanship with traditional techniques, we revitalize historical spaces, creating a meaningful bridge between the past, present, and future.
Leading our efforts is Andy Bergfeld of Bergfeld Realty, a fifth-generation Tyler native whose family has significantly shaped the city's landscape since 1878. The Bergfeld family's legacy includes developing key areas like the Azalea District and establishing the Bergfeld Center, East Texas's first shopping center. Andy's personal dedication to preservation is evident in projects like the meticulous restoration of the 1852 Col. John Dewberry House, which earned him the Lucille Terry Award from the East Texas Historical Association.
With deep roots in Tyler and a profound respect for its history, Andy and our team are passionate about preserving the city's architectural heritage. Let Bergfeld Historic Preservation be your trusted partner in restoring your historic building, ensuring its legacy endures for years to come.
